Five cops among 9 injured in Peshawar blast

PESHAWAR - At least nine persons including five police personnel got injured when a remote control device hit a vehicle of Quick Response Force on Friday.
Local police said that the vehicle was on routine patrolling near the Arbab Sikandar Khan Khalil Flyover when an explosive device went at a near place off with a big bang in front of Gulbahar police station. The blast resulted in injuries to nine persons including five personnel of police.
Soon after the incident, Rescue 1122 squad rushed to the site and shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. The condition of one of them was stated critical. Those, injured in the attack were identified Zulfiqar, Khalir, Ilyas and Naik Muhammad, Muhammad Ashfaq, Dilawar, Mohammad Riaz and Rahatullah.  A heavy contingent of police also reached the blast site and cordoned off the area. According to Bomb disposal Unit, two kg explosive material was used in the attack.
SSP Operations, while talking to journalists, said that it was improvised explosive device. He said that the bomb was hidden in a flowers container beneath the flyover.
Tehreek-e-Taliban spokesman Muhammmad Khursani has claimed responsibility of the attack.
