Man shot dead on resistance

HAFIZABAD - A villager was shot dead by dacoits when he put up resistance while three other villagers were killed in three different mishaps here in the district on Sunday.
According to police source, Faiz Ahmad, a landlord was asleep in his house in village Rai Chand when three unidentified dacoits stormed into his house. The outlaws ordered the family members to hand over whatever they had but head f the family put up resistance at which the dacoits opened firing. As a result he received fatal injuries. He was rushed to hospital but he could not survive. The police have registered a case against the accused and arrested one of them identified as Ubaid.
In another incident, a married woman was poisoned to death by her husband and second wife.
According to police source, deceased Zubeda Bibi was married off to Iftikhar Ahmad in Kot Nakka about ten years back. However, Iftikhar had got second married with another woman against the wishes of her first wife recently. Due to this very reason they often quarrelled. According to FIR accused Iftikhar Ahmad in collusion with his second wife Kiran allegedly poisoned her to death.  The police have registered a case against Iftikhar and his second wife on the report of brother of deceased Zubeda Bibi. Dead body of the deceased has been shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, Zafar Iqbal, a resident of Alimpura Jalalpur Bhattian was on the way to Khanpura on his bike when a speeding van hit his bike. As result of which he sustained fatal injuries and was shifted to hospital where he could not survive. The police have registered a case against the wagon driver.
In yet another mishap, a 45-year-old unidentified man was found lying dead near DHQ hospital Hafizabad.
His dead body has been shifted to the morgue for autopsy. Identity and cause of death could not be ascertained yet.
