Ban Ki-moon praised for condemning Indian atrocities

MIRPUR (AJK)-Various political leaders, analysts and human rights activists praised UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for condemning the loss of human lives in the Indian-Held Kashmir.
Ban Ki MOON in his letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Vice Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir National Front Altaf Hussain Wani said. He said, “It is encouraging that UN secretary general is concerned about the ugly situation of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir and his intentions to meet prime minister of Pakistan in order to defuse the situation.
Talking to this scribe, Wani said that instead of offering the facilitation, which India has always rejected, it is time for UN Secretary General to immediately move for full filling the due responsibilities lying on his office towards the early settlement of the Kashmir issue in the lines of the internal norms and commitments enshrined in the UN resolutions on Kashmir issue.
“People of Kashmir want UN intervention not facilitation. Jammu and Kashmir is UN disputed territory and United Nations has legal as well as moral obligation towards implementation of UN resolutions and protect the rights of people of Indian Occupied Kashmir, who are facing the worst kind of rights violations at the hands of India occupational forces including Army, paramilitary troops and Central Reserve Police,” he said.
Appreciating the letter of Ban Ki Moon to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, newly-elected Member of AJK Legislative Assembly Ch Saeed said that it was crystal clear through the letter by the UN Secy General that Kashmir issue still stands on the agenda of the United Nations as the unresolved global dispute and the world body was well aware of its due obligations to be performed for the settlement of the much-delayed issue in line with the UN resolution on Kashmir.
Ch Saeed thanked the UN Secy General for deploring the ongoing loss of human lives in the Indian occupied jammu & Kashmir at the hands of the occupational forces. Saeed continued that it was the result of the high vision and unequivocal bold and courageous Kashmir policy of the Pakistan government that international community especially the global foras like United Nations, Organization of Islamic Countries. and human rights organizations, were strongly supporting Pakistan’s persistent desire for the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue.
He underlined that the UN Secretary General had fully endorsed the above desire of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif seeking the early settlement of all outstanding issues including Kashmir through meaningful Indo-Pak talks.
Ch Saeed hoped due role of the United Nations towards the settlement of the Kashmir issue during forthcoming 71st session of its General Assembly to be attended by the Prime Ministers of both Pakistan and India.
Former administrator of District Council and Muslim Conference leader Mirpur Raja Zaffar Maroof said that it was the reiteration of the reality, indeed, that United Nations was fully aware of performing its due obligations and commitments towards the settlement of Kashmir issue. He observed the issue has become a permanent threat to the peace not only in South Asia but also the world over - directly or indirectly.
Maroof said that New Delhi have to give a positive response to persistent desire of Pakistan for resolving the Kashmir issue through comprehensive dialogue with Islamabad without further loss of time.
“The desire of Ki moon towards this direction was, indeed, required to be implemented without further loss of time for the emergence of regional and global peace on permanent grounds.
He, however, reiterated Kashmiris demand early holding of plebiscite in entire Jammu & Kashmir state under the spirit of the UN resolutions to settle the issue providing any opportunity to the people of disputed Himalayan state to decide about their destine through their will and wishes, the Kashmiri leader concluded.
