ISLAMABAD - Although some of the MQM members are leaving the party after the controversial statement of Altaf Hussian, the loyal members with the party are confident to deal with the ongoing difficult situation for their party.
These lawmakers are optimistic about normal situation in a couple of weeks as the recent success of designated mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar has proved as a ‘cushion’ for the party.
“Things will be normalized in a week or so, as the loyal members of the party have agreed to work under Farooq Sattar without indulging in any controversy,” MQM lawmakers remarked in background discussions with The Nation.
MQM would soon smoothly start political activities in and outside the parliament as Farooq Sattar dealing with the situation to avert any crisis for the party, they believed.
About grouping in the party, most of the MQM lawmakers are confident that MQM’s voters are loyal to their leaders. “All the lawmakers of MQM are ready for election in their constituencies,” said the MQM MNA adding that disloyal members can never be loyal to any party.
“Political opponents should respect the mandate of MQM, which is a reality,” they added.
Political gurus say that the unexpected decision of running the party without taking instructions from London can actually be not possible.
The party under the leadership of senior member Farooq Sattar will not be acceptable to all for long time. “Party affairs will not easily be managed by Farooq Sattar for long time, as this could be hoodwinking to divert attention,” they said.
Talking to The Nation, MQM’s Ali Raza Abidi said party members are ready to face all the challenges. “We will give response of every query at every platform,” he said.
To a question, Abidi was hopeful that the sealed offices of the party throughout the country will be re-opened soon.

INP adds: US State Department spokesman Mark Toner condemned attack on media houses in Pakistan and said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) misused freedom of expression.
Addressing a press conference in Washington on Tuesday, Toner said that they were in contact with Pakistani government and seeking more details. He said they were hopeful that Pakistani government will show responsibility in terms of protecting its citizens.
Toner said that US is in favour of direct dialogue between Pakistan and India. He said Pakistan and India should hold dialogue to resolve issues. He said restoration of bilateral relations between Pakistan and India was vital for regional stability.

American think tanks have warned Obama administration that Indian PM Modi’s open interference in the internal matters of Pakistan have a risk of creating chaos and tension, therefore; US should give a clear message to India that it does not support Modi’s remarks on Balochistan.
State Department deputy spokesperson Mark Toner has clarified a day before that US supports Pakistan’s territorial integrity however; it is distancing itself from Modi’s provocative statement over Balochistan in which he blamed Pakistan for human rights violations and violence in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
While talking to a private TV channel Branks Community College professor Hammad Khan said that America has distanced itself from Modi’s offensive remarks whilst keeping in view the concrete facts.
He said that in the light of reports compiled by think tanks, US has conveyed a message to India through diplomatic sources that such remarks will increase border tensions and can lead to major destruction.
He explained that Pakistani-American scholars are preparing a draft against the malicious tactics of India which will be sent to President Obama.
The draft will be an appeal to the US administration to intervene in the matter and prevent Indian PM from making such remarks.
