Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar, and urged the federal and provincial governments to work jointly as top priority to eliminate the menace from the country.
At the residence of JI Punjab Naib Ameer Uzair Latif, he said, “We all are with the families of the martyred students and teachers. This tragic incident has plunged the whole nation into mourning. Our party never ever supports terrorists and their activities in the country because Islam is the religion of peace and prosperity. Our religion does not allow the terrorism and killing of innocent people.”
He also prayed eternal peace for the departed souls and courage for the families to bear loss. Commenting on the political situation and calling off PTI sit-in in Islamabad, he said that his role as head of the Jirga and as Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami remained positive. He said that democracy is the best system for the country and all the issues must be settled in the parliament.
He appreciated the decision of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for calling of Dharna. He added that PTI had shown positive gesture by calling off its sit-in and now it was the government’s responsibility to resolve all the pending issues including the formation of a commission to probe alleged rigging.
He hoped 2015 would be a peaceful. He said the country was not owned by any military general or any dictator as it is a democratic country. He also urged the all political parties to follow the democratic system of Jamaat-e-Islami inside their parties, and leadership of the parties should be changed through votes.
To a question, he refused to comment on the statements issued by MQM leader Altaf Hussain. He said all mosques are respectable for the Muslims community because mosques are defined as home of almighty Allah. Similarly, Jamia Hafsa and Lala Masjid are also home of Allah and not owned by Abdul Aziz. However, he said, “The comments of Altaf Hussain to destroy that mosque are really painful for me and all the Muslins. We have deep condemns over these remarks.”
Meanwhile, Attock police have started search operation across the district against anti-social elements as the station house officers here have been directed to arrest people involved in suspicious activities and crimes in their respective areas.
Special directions have been given to the police to especially have a vigilant eye on expats. As per the sources, police are raiding different residential areas. Landlords have also been directed to keep an eye on their tenants. The house owners before renting out their houses must ensure the whereabouts of tenants.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested Abdul Malik of Lakarmar as he was trying to smuggle two-kg heroin. Taimoor of village Hameed was arrested for possessing 1,100 gram Charas. Nasir of Attock city was arrested as police recovered four bottles liquor from his possession. The police arrested Bilal of Chakwal and Sanaullah of Attock and recovered two pistols from them.
