SADIQABAD - A balloting ceremony was held at the Town Hall Rahim Yar Khan for awarding houses of a model village set up in village NP/56.
Briefing about the project, Assistant Commissioner Shahzad Fazl Abbasi said that 220 houses of Fatehpur Tuana, 159 of Kacha Gopang and 261 houses of Kacha Deeh were included in the model village balloting. He added that out of the included flood victims in the balloting, 94 houses were distributed to the affectees. Besides, he further said, seven additional names were included in the balloting from each locality. 
Addressing the ceremony, the district coordination officer said that according to the Punjab CM's vision, the government were achieving another milestone by constructing model villages for the flood-hit people so that their wounds could be healed. 
"The Punjab government has set up 21 model villages in the province out of which three have been completed in Rahim Yar Khan district. Model house are being distributed through transparent balloting to the flood victims," DCO Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi said. "In all aspect, the villages are model ones where all basic facilities such mosque, school, potable water, electricity and biogas would be ensured besides setting up of handcrafts training centres where women will be imparted vocational training."
On the occasion, former advisor to the CM Imtiaz Ahmad praised the efforts being made by the DCO regarding establishment of model villages and Daanish Schools in the district.
Plantation drive launched: The district coordination officer of Rahim Yar Khan has directed the departments concerned to leave no stone unturned to make the spring tree plantation campaign 2012 successful. The DCO launched the campaign by planting a sapling at the ground of his soffice and directed for launching a mass awareness campaign on the plantation. He urged all the district and tehsil levels officials to plant saplings at their respective offices and also take steps for the growth and development of the existing plants and trees. He directed the EDO (agriculture) and the divisional and district officers of the Forest Department to set up selling points to sell out saplings at cheap prices.
On the occasion, the EDO (Finance and Planning) also planted a sapling, briefing the DCO, EDO (Agriculture) Zafar Yab Haidar and Divisional Forest Officer Haq Nawaz said that across the district, 615,000 saplings would be planted.
They said that they were taking steps to educate the people about the plantation. Muhammad Mehar, the EDO (Works), among others was also present.
