PPP fires broadside at PML-N

WAZIRABAD

PPP Punjab leader Javed Akhtar has said that the PML-N won the general elections 2013 with the support of terrorist elements like Taliban as the PPP then had faced terror threats.
He said that PTI is no more in Balochistan and Sindh while in KPK it survives with alliance. He claimed that the PPP always raised voice for the rights of farmers and government employees. Nawaz League labeled its name on the projects started by the PPP, he said while addressing a press conference at the residence of Ijaz Ahmad Cheema, the PPP’s candidate in NA 10, Wazirabad.
He handed over the party ticket to Ijaz Ahmad Cheema to contest MNA election from NA 101 after approval by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, in presence of Mian Azhar Hasan Dar, district President Gujranwala, Mushtaq Gujjar, city president, and a number of party workers. Javed Akhtar stated that PPP, during its tenure, adopted policy to curb corruption and other crimes and worked for the betterment of growers and government servants. It increased their salaries handsomely so that they may live with dignity and avoid negativism, he said. “Condition of growers is at the worst level of its history. The growers and government servants are annoyed at the PML-N policy. PPP started various electricity generation projects during its tenure but the PML-N labeled their names on these projects and is also propagating against PPP and misguiding the people,“ he said.
He noted that PPP was always against terrorists due to which the party was targeted while its leaders were still under threats from the terrorists. He alleged that the Nawaz League was protecting terrorists and has soft corner towards them. He further added that investors are also in uncertainty as they have to go to other countries like UAE to discuss their monetary matters. “Pakistan’s military forces are fighting terrorism according to their own strategy while PML-N is trying to get benefit from it,” he said. People should take notice of its wrong policies. He further added that the pact signed by the government with Qatar for import of LNG was not suitable because Pakistan will suffer a heavy loss and will pay up to 65 percent extra.
He said that PPP had made a pact at lower rates but the government not only cancelled it but also signed a new agreement at higher rates. T
Some six persons from other parties include Nasir Mughal, Imtiaz Mughal, Shakeel Mehar and Mirza Mushtaq Ahmad announced to join the People’s Party on the occasion. Earlier, PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari had finally broke his silence over the recent arrests of fellow party members and accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of “repeating the politics of the 1990s”. He had alleged that the steps being taken by the government “clearly indicated” that the rulers were “dividing” the nation in an attempt “to save their natural allies Taliban and the terrorists” and to “weaken” the war against terror.
Political observers believe that the recent arrest of his close friend Dr Asim Hussain forced Mr Zardari to issue such a harshly-worded statement. The statement came two days after PPP leaders declared in Islamabad that the party had decided to end its policy of reconciliation and would no longer be supporting the PML-N government in any political crisis.
