2 TTP men held; arms seized



RAWALPINDI - Police foiled a bid of possible terrorist attack by apprehending two terrorists and recovering weapons from their possession at Barhama Interchange near Motorway.
The weapons including two Kalashnikovs, 4 hand grenades, 8 magazines and 200 bullets while the arrested have been identified as Usman Liaquat alias Shah Gee alias Tayyab son of Muhammad Liaquat and Saqib Ali Shah alias Hamza alias Ashraf son of Ashfaq Hussain hails from Garhi Afghana. The arrested terrorists were linked to be Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plotting to carry out massive attacks on sensitive installations in twin cities, disclosed DSP Taxila Raja Taifoor Akhtar while talking to TheNation here on Tuesday. According to DSP, a police party, on a tip-off, conducted a raid at Barhama Interchange and apprehended the terrorists and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from them.  During primarily investigation it was disclosed that these were high profile terrorists, had links with TTP, did racy of sensitive installations in twin cities to target them and planning to loot a armor cash van to bear the expenses of their nefarious attempts, added DSP Raja Taifoor. However, the investigation is on and police were also expecting more revelations, he mentioned. The raiding party comprised SHO Police Station (PS) Wah Saddar Muhammad Khan, Sub Inspector (SI) M Aslam and others. Later, both the terrorists were presented in Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi Number 1 by the police amid tight security and obtained five day physical remand of the terrorists.
