SRINAGAR : A British skier died Friday after being trapped under an avalanche at India’s premier Himalayan ski resort Gulmarg which has received some of its heaviest snowfall in a decade. The 59-year-old victim was skiing at an altitude of more than 3,000 metres with two others at the resort in Held Kashmir, famed among extreme Western skiers for its off-piste areas and deep powder snow. “He was trapped under the sudden avalanche while the other two escaped with minor injuries,” JP Singh, deputy inspector general of police, told AFP.
