ISLAMABAD- Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are likely to further expand their cooperation against militancy in the region to fight threats from ISIS. The new King who succeeded his step-brother, King Abdullah after his sad demise on Friday, has a history of targeting ISIS and Al-Qaeda. In 2011, he ordered airstrikes against ISIS and also supported several operations against Al-Qaeda.
Last week, Pakistani security forces reportedly arrested a member of the Islamic State’s militant group in Lahore. King Salman also took keen interest in the regional situation when he was in Pakistan last year. With King Salman now in office, new hopes and dimensions are under discussion among diplomats.
