PM to confer certificates on IUB students

BAHAWALPUR - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani will confer certificates on students of the Islamia University Bahawalpur on successful completion of a month-log training course conducted by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) at a special ceremony on July 26, in Islamabad. This was disclosed by IUB Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar in a meeting of the senior faculty members here the other day. The VC congratulated the Department of Computer Sciences Chairman Dr Shahid Naveed and students on the remarkable achievement and termed it as a milestone in achieving distinction in IT education. Dr Muhammad will attend certificate distribution ceremony in Islamabad along with the faculty members and students. It is important to mention here that the Pakistan Software Board has selected 15 students from Computer Science and IT Department of IUB to train them in market deficient areas of information technology. The students participated in the month-long training course organised by PSEB in Lahore and after the completion of the course they will be inducted in renowned national and multinational organisations. The IUB Department of Computer Science and IT was established in 1994 to cope with the modern needs of information technology. The main objective of the department is to produce quality computer professionals and software experts in order to meet demands of IT for both national and international markets. Presently 28 faculty members including 4 PhDs are imparting education to 1,450 students at Bachelor, Master, MPhil and PhD level.
