MQM condemns power breakdown

KARACHI- Muttahida Qaumi Movement Raabta Committee (MQM RC) has condemned the prolonged power breakdown in Karachi and Hyderabad and expressed concerns on the power outage on Jumatul Wida.

In a statement, MQM Raabta Committee said that tripping of power feeders during monsoon season, suspension of economic activities and non-supply of water are clear indicators that the electricity system had worn out and no effective measures are being taken to address the problem.

The coordination committee further said that the supply of electricity has not been ensured in Karachi and Hyderabad even in holy months such as Ramazan despite the residents of the two cities are paying their bills.

“Karachi and Hyderabad are the engines of progress in Pakistan and power supply is utmost necessary. The bright future and development of the country depends on electricity,” MQM said.

They demanded President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad, and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the prolonged power breakdown in the two cities and to reform the electricity system.
