RAJANPUR - A contractor along with his accomplices gunned down seven workers and injured 10 other here at Guddu Thermal Power Plant, the other day.
According to detail, a watchman died sudden under mysterious circumstances at the power plant. Shock at the sudden death of their colleague, the rest of the workers held Qul Khawani for the departed soul. In the meantime Contractor Rauf Khosa came there and asked them to go to the work. However, the workers demanded a probe into the incident to ascertain cause of the death and also requested the contractor for financial help to the deceased’s family.
At which Rauf Khosa flared up and called in his brother Baqi Khosa who along with his guards reached there and opened indiscriminate firing, killing seven of the labourers on the spot while more than 10 got critical bullet wounds were severely injured. Three of the deceased were identified as Ajmak Akias Dadoo Mazari, Shakeel Mazari and Murtaza Mazari.
Meanwhile, the labours vehemently protested the atrocity and blocked Guddu-Roojhan Road, demanding arrest of the contractor and his accomplices. Later, funeral for the deceased was offered at Cricket Ground Guddu.
Residents of Guddu and Kashmor observed a complete shutter down strike aginst the cruelty. In the meantime former prime minister Balkh Sher Khan Mazari reached the scene and offered condolence over the gruesome incident to the heirs.
The Kashmor DPO suspended the Guddu Police SHO for negligence on duty while Rangers personnel have been deployed at Guddu to control the situation.  According to sources, no case could not be registered against the assassins till filing of this report.
