ISLAMABAD - All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Central Leader Ahmad Raza Kasuri gave a cautious comment on the foreign media report levelling serious allegations of Indian funding to Muttahida Qaumi Movement, saying that the allegations were of serious nature but would be of little value till proven in the court of law.
In a brief chat with The Nation, Ahmad Raza Kasuri, who himself is a senior lawyer and represented party chief General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf in many cases, said the allegations of collaboration of India with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and provision of money to its leadership, were very serious, but to him these were remain allegations unless proven in the court of law.
To a question, he said that in his view MQM should have clarified its position and the party's leadership had refuted the report dubbing it a 'table story' and could go for filing a damages suit against the said media channel for releasing a wrong story.
He further said that in West, courts used to take stern action in cases where someone file story contrary to the facts, so MQM should challenge the report in UK courts keeping in view serious allegations levelled against the party and its leadership.
The APML chief and former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf has a special liking for the party and during his rule in early 2000, MQM had greatly enjoyed his benevolence and support in the port city of Karachi.
Similarly, the same sentiments were expressed for General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf from time to time by the leadership of MQM and both the parties were also seen on same wavelength and frequency on host of national issues.
