No interim CM for Punjab yet

LAHORE - The parliamentary committee constituted by Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal to evolve consensus over the name of a caretaker Punjab chief minister, did not even touch the main issue on the first day of its meeting.
The committee which met under the chair of former Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah at Punjab Assembly Sunday focussed only on the terms of reference and dealt with other technical issues regarding the selection process.
Zulfiqar Gondal, Shaukat Basra and Zaheeruddin Ahmad represented the Opposition while Rana Sanaullah, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Iqbal Chanter attended the meeting from PML-N side.
The committee decided to consult the law secretary and the advocate general to seek their legal advice on inclusion of new names in the present list of probable candidates. Shaukat Basra told TheNation that the committee could not have discussion over the names because the PML-N did not provide them profiles of its candidates.
The committee would meet on Monday (today) again at 11 am.
It has two more days to reach consensus over one name, failing which, the Speaker would refer the matter to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
