KARACHI- Director General PDMA Sindh Salman Shah today informed that relief activities in drought-hit district Tharparkar had entered in 18th day, while relief activities in Sanghar, Umerkot and Khairpur districts were also being continued since six days.
Addressing journalists in his office, he said that to date 48,827 persons in Tharparkar, 17,606 in Umerkot and 8,543 in Sanghar districts had been provided treatment in various fixed and mobile hospitals. Shah said that government also was paying attention to the treatment of animals and to date, 2,649,308 cattle heads in Tharparker, 164,420 in Umerkot and 96,794 in Sanghar districts was provided treatment and vaccinated.
DG PDMA said that the drought-affected were given free of cost wheat bags and so far, 217,926 families in Tharpakar, 2,327 families in Sanghar and 5184 families in Umerkot had been given 50 kilograms of wheat bag each. Shah said that the family ration bags were also being provided to drought affected to augment relief efforts. He said that today PDMA Sindh had dispatched 2000 family ration bags to Tharparkar district and 100 family ration bags to Umerkot district.
