PISHIN - Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch inaugurated a park at Band Khushdil Khan Dam in Pishin district which would cost Rs 57 million.
He also attended concluding ceremony of Haiwad Sports Festival at the dam and announced Rs 2 million for the sports festival.
Addressing the ceremony, the chief minister said that organising a sports festival was evidence that law and order situation has improved in the province.
Congratulating people of Pishin for organising a sports festival, the chief minister said that a sports festival would also be held in Turbat soon.
He said that with the efforts of the provincial government 15,000 agricultural tube-wells have been legalised and power generation capacity has increased from 400MW to 700MW. “We have provided Rs 8 billion funds for the development of agricultural sector,” he said. Later, he distributed prizes among winner teams.
Provincial Information Minister Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal, Minister for Planning and Development Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, Minister for Local Government Sardar Mustafa Tareen, Adviser to Chief Minister on Education Sardar Raza Baraich and other officials were present on the occasion.
INCREASED POWER SUPPLY TO BALOCHISTAN LAUDED: Balochistan Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Information Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal has welcomed increase in power supply to the province from previous 450 megawatts to 700.
Speaking in Quetta on Sunday, he said that the province received mere 450MWs against its 1,200MWs demand from the national grid which caused widespread power loadshedding in rural and urban parts of the province, he said and added it will help to redress problems related to power outages in the province.
"Power shortage on one hand played havoc with the agriculture and livestock sectors while on the other increased sufferings of the people at large," the minister added.
He, however, described increase in electricity supply to the province as a welcome step and said it will greatly help mitigate losses to agriculture and livestock sectors but ensure smooth power supply to domestic consumers of the province.
WAPDA OFFICIAL ELECTROCUTED: An Assistant Lineman of WAPDA was electrocuted in Dera Murad Jamali on Sunday, Saddar police confirmed.
Muhammad Anwar Mosiani was working on a pole in Jot Mengal Feeder when he was electrocuted. His body was handed over to the heirs after autopsy, police said.
Executive Engineer QESCO Mir Shahid Zehri ordered an inquiry into the incident.
