ISLAMABAD - Reham Khan, former wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, has decided to return Pakistan on December 1 but fears reaction from PTI supporters and has sought security in this regard, The Nation learnt yesterday.
One of close aides of Reham Khan told The Nation that she (Reham) has signed contract with a local news channel to host weekly programme. He said after return, she will formally join the TV channel and start hosting the programme regularly. She requested the TV channel’s management to arrange security for her and hire private guards because she fears reaction from PTI workers.
She had left for UK a few days before divorce and during her stay over there the PTI Spokesman, Naeem Ul Haq, broke the news of divorce of the couple to the world on October 30 through a press release. Later, Both Imran and Reham confirmed this news on social media.
Earlier, Reham Khan tried to get her marriage registered with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) during her visit to the Metropolitan city almost one week before divorce. But she failed to provide the copy of her husband’s national identity card and original “Nikkahnama”.
After a few days of divorce, Reham allegedly started anti-PTI campaign and exposed party’s internal affairs and also criticised Imran Khan on social media. She also appeared on different international TV channels and allegedly criticised Imran Khan’s family attitude and the PTI’s top leadership interference in the personal life of couple. She claimed that close aides of PTI chairman did not accept her as wife of Imran Khan and mistreated her at every forum.
On the other hand, Imran Khan acknowledged her services for the welfare of street children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during his media talks in Peshawar last week.
Talking to The Nation, PTI senior leader Asad Umar said that PTI workers would not misbehave with Reham at any forum after her return to the country. He said that Imran Khan never passed any comment on Reham in any party meeting after divorce and even the PTI chairman also acknowledged her services for party in recent by-elections. “Reham Khan should not fear PTI’s workers on her return to Pakistan,” he added.
