Teacher shaves students' heads for 'not studying well'

JHANG: A private school teacher in Jhang shaved dozens of students’ heads on Wednesday for not studying well.

Child Protection Bureau took notice of the incident after news channels broadcast the news.

According to the details, teacher of a private school in Chatta Bakhsha area of Jhang gave a strange punishment to dozens of students
by shaving their heads and making them stand outside the class for not revising the given lessons.

Executive Director Officer (EDO) Education issued a show cause notice to the school after broadcast of the news while Child Protection Bureau has also started the investigation.

Torture on students in the name of punishment had been the culture of South Asian region but some years ago the government of Punjab
strictly prohibited any kind of physical punishment in schools. The lack of training for the teachers is also a factor in such cases
because they do not understand the physical and psychological effects of their punishments.

Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shahbaz Sharif today has taken notice of teacher’s torture on a six-year-old student in Rawalpindi.

The incident took place in Rawalpindi s local school when an implacable teacher brutally beaten up schoolgirl Moneeba with a stick having nail on it that severely wounded her hand. The teacher assaulted the student for not learning the lesson.

CM Punjab stongly condemned the act and summoned report from Rawalpindi Commissioner as early as possible. He said that education with physical of mentaltorture is deplorable and needs to get addressed.
