QUETTA - A group of armed men abducted four members of a hunting party of Qatari Petroleum Minister Sheikh Ali Bin Abdullah from Kech district, bordering Iran, on Thursday.
A Levies official told The Nation that armed men abducted four members of Qatari Sheikh’s hunting party from Mand area when they were heading towards Dasht in vehicles. “The kidnapped persons are locals who were working with the Arab Sheikh,” he added. However, names of kidnapped persons were not identified immediately.
Unidentified armed men had attacked a camp of Qatari Sheikh in Buleda area of same Kech district on Tuesday in which one Levies official was killed and the attackers had taken away weapons from the guards and two vehicles.
However, Qatari Sheikh was not present in the camp when the attack was carried out.
Sources said that following Tuesday’s incident, the Arab Sheikh had stopped hunting Houbara Bustard and the four workers on same party were heading towards Dasht when they were abducted.
Earlier, a hunting party of Qatari Petroleum Minister was attacked in February this year in same Kech district and banned outfit Baloch Liberation Front had claimed responsibility for the attack.
Arab Sheikhs hailing from different Arab countries visit Balochistan with arrival of winter for hunting Houbara Bustard. The areas of Balochistan, including Chagai, Nushki, Kharan, Washuk, Kech, Lasbela, Jhal Magsi, Qila Saifullah and other areas are allotted to Arab Sheikhs for hunting Houbara Bustard.
