AJK celebrates 69th founding anniversary

MIRPUR (AJK) - The 69th foundation day of Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir was celebrated across AJK with fervour and renewal of pledge to continue struggle until liberation of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and acceding it to Pakistan.

Special prayers were offered in mosques for integrity and prosperity of Pakistan and early liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The main event of the day was a police parade at the University ground with AJK acting President Shah Ghulam Qadir as the chief guest.

It was public holiday throughout the state on Monday.

Functions, flag hoisting ceremonies, seminars and prayer ceremonies were held in all district headquarters of the State to mark the day. A special ceremony was held at AJK University ground, which attended by acting President Shah Ghulam Qadir, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, ex-PM Sardar Atteq Ahmed, Ministers - Noreen Arif and Barrister Iftikhar Gillani. MLA Ch Shahzad, Chief Secretary Sakandir Sultan Raja, IGP Bashir Memon, additional chief secretary Farhat Ali Mir, secretaries, head of the departments, MLAs, representative of All Parties Hurriat Conference, girls and boys of different schools, vice chancellors ,women and other civilians attended the ceremony.

The President distributed Presidential awards to police officers and personnel in recognition of their best performance .Those who got awards included SSP Mirpur Irfan Saleem, DSP Raja Azhar Iqbal, DSP Kotli Riaz Mughal, SHO Kotli, SHO Khuiratta and DFC Ibrar Hussain.
