PESHAWAR - A Congo patient died in Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar on Saturday.
Hospital sources said that patient identified as 45-year-old Sadiqur Rahman was admitted in Peshawar local hospital for Congo virus treatment on September 21.
He was being treated in special ward of the HMC. He was tested positive and doctors confirmed Congo virus disease in Sadiqur Rahman, however, he expired at 2:30am during initial phase.
The total number of Congo death cases rose to three in this year.
Health experts advised the citizens to take special preventive measures to protect them from carrying Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF). Eight patients are still being treated in Hayatabad Medical Complex.
Doctors said that animals become infected by the bite of infected ticks and the virus remains in their bloodstream for about one week after infection, allowing the tick-animal cycle to continue when another tick bites.
The CCHF virus is transmitted to people either by tick bites or through contact with infected animal blood or tissues during and immediately after slaughter.
