ISLAMABAD - The US Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, James F.Dobbins, called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif in separate meetings on Friday.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and James F. Dobbins discussed the regional security situation, post-Afghan election scenario, situation on Pak-Afghan border and matters relating to the withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and US Ambassador Richard Olson were also present on the occasion.
In another meeting Ambassador James F. Dobbins called on General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters. According to ISPR during the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed. While the success of Afghan Presidential elections was noted with satisfaction, importance of stable and democratic Afghanistan was emphasised for regional security. Earlier on Thursday, the US envoy held meetings with Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
Statement released by US Embassy in Pakistan stated that James F. Dobbins completed his two day visit and he showed his satisfaction over the meetings with Pakistani leadership and officials.
