Time running out for resolving political impasse

Nazim-e-Ala of Wifaqul Madaris Pakistan (WMP) Qari Hanif Jalandhri has warned that next 24 hours are critical in view of prevailing political crisis, adding that army can play a vital role to steer the country out of prevailing crisis-like-situation.
Talking to the journalists here on Monday, he added that political extremism ruined country and economy while the crisis further deepened. He suggested to the political leadership to exhibit a responsible behaviour in this situation and give up extremism. “The political leadership should make dialogue meaningful and productive in shortest possible time,” he appealed to the leaders engaged in dialogue. He also appealed to the judiciary and army to play their role in crisis management in this situation.
He strongly criticized the participants of Azadi and Inqilab marches and said that they made a mockery of teachings of Islam by holding mix gatherings and dances publicly. “It’s tantamount to inviting wrath of Allah Almighty,” he warned.
DRIVE AGAINST POLLUTERS: The district government has launched a special drive against environment polluters under which action will be taken against factories and those involved in burning trash. This was declared by District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal while addressing a meeting here at his office on Monday. He added that environmental pollution ruined human life and keeping in view its hazards, entire world declared it a big crime. He said that constitution of Multan Solid Waste Management Company was an important step towards making Multan clean. He said that a neat and clean Multan stood at the top of his priority and the company would come up to the expectations of Multanites. He said that the district government turned Multan into the city of flowers.
Meanwhile, a special team comprising the officials from environment and livestock departments as well as TMAs conducted surprise raids in walled city area under the leadership of AC city Ashfaqur Rehman and arrested nine butchers on charges of illegal slaughtering and spreading pollution. The raids were conducted in Inside Haram Gate, Pak Gate and Bohar Gate, Chungi No-6 and 9, Bosan Road, Sooraj Miani, Mauza Jahangir Abad, Durrana Langana and adjoining areas. The team confiscated hundreds of kilogram unhealthy meat while cases were registered against the slaughters by respective police stations. The team also sealed illegal slaughter houses and recovered fake stamps.
