Woman robbed of life in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI - Five robbers broke into a house here at Khoolay village and killed a 65-year-old woman on wee hours of Monday, informed police.
The deceased lady, who was later identified as Saleem Akhter widow of Muhammad Jan (late), is told to be mother of Abdul Ghaffar, a soldier of Pakistan Army.
 The robbers managed to escape after looting gold ornaments from the house. Police filed a case against unknown robbers and started investigation.
According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Qamar Javed, who is also investigating the murder-cum-robbery case, the incident took place at 2:30am when five robbers entered the house of the lady. He added that the robbers were conducting search to find some valuables when the old lady awoke and tried to offer resistance.
However, the robbers wrapped a piece of cloth around her mouth, leaving her to die of suffocation, the SI said, adding that the robbers fled the house after looting four gold bangles and three rings.
Responding to a question, the SI said that the victim family was mourning the death of the lady and has not nominated anyone so far in the FIR.
