Karachi- The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) today suspended its flight service to Bangladesh, after security forces allegedly maltreated one of its officials in Dhaka.
According to media reports, the security forces raided the house of PIA Country Manager in Bangladesh Ali Abass, three days back and allegedly mistreated him and his family members. The security forces also checked a PIA flight (PK-266) and allegedly harassed the passengers, before it flew to Karachi from Dhaka with a delay of three hours.
The PIA while expressing serious concerns over the alleged miscomputed of the Bengali security officials, has suspended it operations to and from Bangladesh. After the media reports emerged, PIA today suspended its flight (PK-266), which was supposed to take off the Karachi Airport to Dhaka.
A PIA spokesperson while confirming the suspension of flight operations to Bangladesh said that the Bengali security forces have been harassing the PIA staff and passengers, but the authorities were turning a deaf ear to the issue despite their attention has been drawn towards the matter.
He said that flights could not be resumed under the current circumstances. The PIA spokesperson also confirmed that Abass reached Karachi before the flight service was suspended.
