One window to step up eunuchs’ registration



TOBA TEK SINGH - The district administration has started registration of eunuchs for issuance of computerised national identity cards and inclusion of their names in electoral rolls.
Talking to this scribe here on Wednesday, District Election Commissioner Abid Hussain said that eunuchs needed to approach Nadra centres in their areas so that processing of their applications could start without delay. He said that a separate category called shemale had been created in the gender column of the registration forms in compliance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan verdict.
He said that so far 16 eunuchs had approached his office out of them only one had already his CNIC while record of 15 others was given to Nadra team and as soon as their CNICs were prepared they would be registered as voters.
On the occasion, District Social Welfare Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Irfan said that so far, 38 eunuchs whose record is available with the  Toba Tek Singh administration have been registered for the CNICs and electoral rolls.
He said the process will continue to register the eunuchs as voters. On the occasion, eunuchs said they were thankful to the chief justice for recognising their problem and giving them an identity.
