Students’ role stressed for peace


MULTAN - Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice chancellor Dr Khawaja Alqama has said that Pakistani youth can set new records of success if they are given appropriate atmosphere.
Addressing the participants of a function organised by Zakariyan Debating Society to honour the position-holders of Chief Minister Declamation Contest here on Wednesday, the VC asked the students to play their role for promoting peace in the campus. He said that he was determined to make BZU top university of the country with the support of students.
He stressed upon the students to give equal importance to their extracurricular activities besides studies. He assured the students that the varsity administration would extend all-out support to them for extracurricular activities and a student week would be held soon.
Speaking on the occasion, DSA Dr Ijaz Ahmad demanded of the VC to allocate funds and a separate office for the debating society. He also demanded for allocation of admission quota for the debaters.
Addressing the function, president of the society Abu Bakkar Shibli said that the success of BZU students in declamation contest was outcome of their hard work and dedication as well as prayers of their teachers and parents.
Registrar Dr Muhammad Ali, Dr Humaira Dasti, deput DSA Imtiaz Warraich and Dr Rehan Sadiq were also present on the occasion. Later on, the VC and Registrar distributed shields and certificates among the contest winners.
KIP terms memogate anti-country plot: Khidmat-e-Insaniyat Party (KIP) has declared memogate scandal a conspiracy against the nation and country, saying the investigators must unveil the facts otherwise it will be the success of writers of this memo.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the KIP leaders Salim Legari and Qari Ishaq said that it appeared as if hurdles were being created in way of the witness in memo case Mansoor Ijaz to prevent him from coming to Pakistan.
“The motive behind this conspiracy is to protect the conspirators,” they added. They said that the masses had become aware of all tactics of the rulers and they would exert pressure on government to implement the decision on memo case.
