Teachers demand one step upgradation

LAKKI MARWAT - The management care officers of Education Department have demanded one step upgradation and asked the government to provide them other perks and privileges in order to achieve the goals of ensuring effective monitoring of schools and promotion of education.
The demand was made at a meeting held at Government Higher Secondary School in Tajazai on Sunday. Male and female officers of education department from Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Tank, DI Khan, Karak and Kohat were in the attendance.
ESED officers from Peshawar and Nowshera also attended the meeting on especial invitation. The problems faced by the officers of management cadre were discussed in detail at the meeting.
The participants, wearing black bands around their arms, vowed that they would launch a peaceful struggle to press the government for accepting their genuine demand of upgradation. "Under the upgradation policy, the government escalated the scales of teachers, clerks and employees of other departments, ignoring management cadre officers of Education Department," said Salim Afaqi.
He said that the management cadre officers were the pillars of educational system but they had been denied their genuine rights.
Another office holder, Muhammad Tariq, said that ESED officials were the pioneers of bringing a real change in the province as their strenuous efforts and sincere hard work proved helpful to restore people's especially parents' confidence in the state-run educational institutions.
Speaking at the meeting, Qadeer Shah said that one step upgradation was the sole demand of ESED officers and would go to the extreme extent to get it materialized.
On the occasion, female participants expressed solidarity with their male colleagues and shed light on mobility (transport), security and other problems they were facing in performing duty.
