FIA sends reminder to Interpol to arrest Musharraf



RAWALPINDI - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)has sent a reminder to the Interpol, to immediately arrest former President Pervez Musharraf and hand him over to it for producing before a trial court in Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s murder case.“The FIA has written another letter to the Interpol reminding it to immediately arrest Pervez Musharraf and hand him over to Pakistan for producing before the Anti-Terrorist Court,” Senior Public Prosecutor of the agency Chaudhry Zulfiqar told APP.In March this year, a formal request was made to the international agency to arrest Pervez Musharraf, who has been living in self exile in London and Dubai since August 2008.Around a month ago, the FIA had informed the Interpol that the arrest warrant of the former President issued by the Anti-Terrorist Court, will remain valid till its compliance.“The Interpol through a letter had asked from the FIA about the expiry date of the arrest warrant. In response, we have conveyed them that it will remain valid till the arrest of Musharraf,” Zulfiqar said.He said the Interpol had been asked that the arrest warrant would remain effective till handing over of Pervez Musharraf to Pakistan or unless the trial court itself cancelled it. Chaudhry Zulfiqar said that the FIA had sent the arrest warrant of Pervez Musharraf to the Interpol alongwith evidences, especially revelations by a foreign journalist and a copy of former President’s e-mail sent to Benazir Bhutto.
