A local farmer drowned in Bambaanwala-Ravi-Badian Canal in Daska while two droned in Faisalabad canals separately on Wednesday.
Muhammad Aslam, 54, was bathing in the canal. Rescue 1122 Sialkot divers fished out his body and handed it over to the aggrieved family for burial. About ten days ago, the Sialkot administration had imposed a ban on bathing in rivers, canals, streams and all the water channels under section 144 PPC in Sialkot district. However.
It was amazing that there was no implementation of the ban. According to the Rescuers, eleven people have yet drowned in separate incidents during the last two weeks while bathing in local rivers and canals in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils. They also saved the people in such number from drowning in different canals and rivers in Sialkot district.
On Wednesday, hundreds of the people thronged Head Marala-Sialkot to enjoy the light rainy and cloudy weather while bathing and picnicking.
When contacted, DOC Malik Abid Hussain Awan pledged to ensure early implementation to save the lives of the people.
