PkSF activists held for demolishing AWKU girls hostel’s wall






MARDAN - The activists of Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF), a student wing of ruling Awami National Party (ANP), Government Postgraduate College (GPGC), Mardan, allegedly demolished the boundary wall of a girls’ hostel of Abdul Wali Khan University.
Police have arrested 12 activists of PkSF, following which the activists announced to quit the federation offices and their basic membership in protest, sources said.
Sources further said that the activists of PkSF of GPGC Mardan on May 23 at 12:40 pm demolished the boundary wall dividing the college and university near Girls Hostel No-2 of AWKU. Sources said that Ibrar Hussain, director admin, AWKU, wrote a letter No 2012/ 312 to local police to take action in this connection and for few days provide security for the protection of Girls hostel and university peaceful atmosphere.
Sources said that Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Hoti who is father of Chief Minister Ameer Hadiar Khan Hoti in this connection took strict action and arranged meeting with the local administration and vice chancellor AWKU Dr Ihsan Ali and strongly condemned this act and directed the administration to immediately arrest the students involved in this act without any discrimination.
Sources said that local police have registered FIR against unknown students under sections 452,506,354,407,434,147,149,186,189 and 9 MPO. Sources further said that later on police arrested 12 activists of PkSF including district president Wajid, senior vice president Bilal Bakhsah, Asad Zia, Abass Khan, Fawad Ali, Jawad Hussain, Saeed, Raza Hussain, Tanzimur Rehman, Waqar, Sabir and Lakhkar Khan.
While talking to TheNation at city police station lockup, the arrested activists of PkSF strongly condemned their arrest and said that “in the government of other parties police were disgracing them but now in their own government they were disgraced by the police.”
They added that they have several secrets about the university administration and when they released from the lockup they would disclose all these secrets in front of media. They added that they would continue their struggle for the interest of students. They said that university administration had promised that they would establish gate for the students of college to visit to university for their works, but later on the university administration backed out from its promise and constructed a wall covering all the area.
They added that they had not demolished this wall to tease the female students of university but the university administration mishandled the issue. They added that there was another gate to the Girls Hostel towards Karwan Road and there was no security on that gate while on the other side, the university administration made it security issue and closed this way. They also resigned as a protest from their offices and basic membership and claimed that very soon all the office-bearers and several members of PkSP of all the colleges would also as a protest resign from their offices.
