MIRPUR (AJK)
Justice Masood A Sheikh was sworn in as Ad-hoc judge of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Chief Justice Muhammad Azam Khan administered oath to the newly-inducted ad-hoc judge. The ceremony was largely attended among others by the retired and serving judges of the superior and subordinate judiciary including judges of the AJK Supreme Court Justice Ibrahim Zia and Justice Raja Saeed Akram and AJK Ehtesab Bureau Chairman Raja Ghazenfer Ali.
Earlier, Additional Secretary Law Perveen Akhter read the notification about the appointment of Justice Masood A Sheikh. After the induction of an ad-hoc judge to the AJK Supreme Court, the number of judges to the apex court reached to four comprising Chief Justice, two permanent judges and an ad-hoc judge.
He has long distinguished career being a jurist with vast professional experience in the field. He was serving as advocate of the AJK Supreme Court since long.
He belongs to a distinguished educated family of AJK. He is the son of Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed, a retired Sericulture Development Officer. Borne on January 1st, 1968 in Mirpur, he got his preliminary education up to the college level in Mirpur. He did his law graduation from the University of Punjab with distinction.
He started his career in the legal profession being advocate of the Lahore High Court from May 26, 1994. Later, he shifted to Mirpur and resumed the profession as Advocate of AJK High Court and Supreme Court in 2000. He was also member of the AJK Bar Council.
