Ulema urged to shun sectarian differences

OUR STAFF REPORTER SIALKOT - Commissioner Gujranwala Division Saeed Wahla has urged the Ulema to shun their sectarian differences in larger national interest and glory of Islam. Addressing a Peace Committee held here under the auspices of Sialkot Police, the Commissioner stated that extraordinary measures had been taken to protect the mourning processions. He said that miscreant if found would be dealt with the iron fist and no one would be allowed to sabotaging the peaceful atmosphere in the region during Muharram. Saeed Wahla said that sectarian harmony and unity among the ranks of the Muslims was the need of the hour which could help resolve the problems being faced to the Ummah. He said that Ulema had been asked to avoid furious speeches and preach the worshippers with patients and tolerance and promote sectarian harmony, religious brotherhood and peace. Addressing the conference, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala Region Ahmed Mubarak Ahmed said that police were successfully implementing on a foolproof security plane to ensure peace during the holy month. RPO said that this security plane would be implemented at Union Council level in active cooperation with the local people especially Ulema besides installing the surveillance cameras at the roots of all the main processions.The RPO said that all the police personnel and law-enforcement agencies had been put on high alert, as the security in and around all the mosques, imambargahs, procession routs, religious seminaries, churches and other important public places had also been further tightened. The holidays of the policemen and other security officials would be cancelled, he added. DCO Sialkot Mujahid Sher Dil, senior police officials, District Peace Committee Chairman Qari Muhammad Ashraf Naqshbandi, Ulema from all schools of thought and senior journalists also attended the conference.
