Four polio workers gunned down in Quetta

QUETTA- Four health workers lost their lives and three others were wounded in attack on polio vaccinators, on the outskirts of Quetta city today.

According to police and rescue officials, a vehicle carrying polio team, including four female vaccinators, was fired upon by unknown gunmen on Southern Bypass near Quetta. Police said four polio workers, including a woman, were killed in the firing which left three others injured. The team was heading to Quetta city to vaccinate children against the crippling disease. Those wounded were rushed to Quetta’s civil hospital where two of the injured are said to be critical state.
The health workers were part of anti-polio drive kicked off on Nov 24 to administer vaccine to around 280,000 children in 18 union councils of Quetta till Nov 29.
