Youth remanded in police custody

GUJRANWALA - The youth, who killed his eight family members on Monday, was remanded in police custody for three days by a lower court on Tuesday. Muhammad Afzals two co-accused, who supplied him with a gun and tranquilisers, were also remanded. In his statement before the judicial magistrate, the youth maintained that the sins of his parents and abject poverty instigated him into murdering his family members. He stated that his mother had developed illicit relations with one Sarfraz, while his father wasted everything they had in gambling. He said his brothers and sisters were forced to sleep without being fed. He told the court that he was in utter distress that prompted him to eliminate all his family.
