KARACHI: Former security in-charge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s headquarters Nine Zero, Minhaj Qazi has joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
In a video statement recorded from jail, Qazi announced his inclusion in the Mustafa Kamal-led PSP. “Anis Qaimkhani invited me to join PSP, which I have readily accepted,” he said.
Qazi was arrested in the murder case of then managing director of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (now K-Electric) Shahid Hamid.
The former MQM worker opined that PSP is a good political option for the metropolis.
According to a charge sheet submitted in the ATC concerned, under-detention accused Minhaj Qazi alias Asad claimed that Shahid Hamid was killed on the directives of MQM founder and another senior leader Nadeem Nusrat.
The then KESC managing director, his driver and a guard were killed on July 5, 1997, in the Defence Housing Authority.
An anti-terrorism court in 1999 announced death penalty to an MQM worker Saulat Ali Khan alias Saulat Mirza who was hanged on May 12, 2015, in Balochistan’s Machh jail.
