Syndicate okays IUB fiscal budget

Our Staff reporter BAHAWALPUR - The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Syndicate, in its 50th meeting held here with Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar in the chair, approved the universitys budget for fiscal year 2011-12 after its was recommended by the Finance and Planning Committee. Supplementary budget for newly established IUB Rangers Campus and Institute of Distance Education was also approved during the meeting. Adoption of revised basic pay scales, allowances and pension of civil servants of the Punjab Government was also approved. The Syndicate also granted PhD degrees to 26 scholars in various academic disciplines as well as recommendations of selection boards for appointment of faculty members were also approved. The members also approved appointments of teacher and officers on contract basis and extension of contract periods of various officials. The Syndicate approved reframing of Quality Enhancement Directorate Staff and eligibility criteria for appointment of Professor of Emeritus recommended by the Higher Education Commission. During the meeting benefits of providing job to one child of a government servant who dies while in service was approved for the university employees. The members of the Syndicate unanimously appreciated and supported Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar for his academic and administrative reforms, financial discipline and development initiatives in the university. The members included Justice Shahid Saeed, Judge Lahore High Court, Haji Zulfiqar Ali, Member of the Punjab Assembly, Dr Muhammad Zafarullah, Ex-Vice Chancellor Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan and representative of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Iftikhar Uddin representative of Finance Department, Government of the Punjab, University Faculty members Dr Shahid Naweed, Dr Shamsul Basar, Dr Rao Muhammad Afzal Khan, Dr Saeed Buzdar and Mr. Riaz Hussain Sindhar. Acting Registrar, Acting Treasurer and Deputy Registrars were also present on the occasion.
