Lawyer grabs land of 42-year litigant

LAHORE - Liaquat Ali Ghaman, a resident of Sialkot is visiting courts for the last 42 years over a land issue and local lawyer Haroon Akbar Cheema, taking benefit of delay in court decision has grabbed his land. Despite implementation on Judicial Policy, hundreds of cases are lying pending in courts. Taking advantage of this situation, Liaquat counsel Akbar Cheema occupied his land and became his rival. His petition 96/22320 is lying pending in Lahore High Court. Former counsel for Liaqtat Ghuman occupied his land while fighting case of his relative. Liaqat Ghuman said that he had been fighting genuine case of his land for last 42 years but he had not got justice. District and Sessions Judge Chakwal Raja Qayum Raja Qayum decided case in his favour on November 20, 1996 but legal hurdles came in the way of justice. He has filed an application to Chief Justice Lahore High Court Ijaz Ahmed Ch for early hearing of his case.
