SIALKOT-Senior educationists during a prize distribution ceremony here linked the national development and prosperity to the promotion of quality education.
Addressing the prize distribution ceremony held at Govt Murray College Sialkot,
Govt College Women University (GCWU) Vice Chancellor Dr Farhat Saleemi said that the secret of development of nations lies in the promotion of quality education. She said that the promotion of education and opening of the doors of education to everyone are the top priority of the government as it is spending billions of rupees annually for achieving the goal.
She said that only education is the solution to all the national problems including terrorism, poverty, unemployment and social backwardness from the country. The VC hailed the role of teachers, saying that good and dutiful teachers are precious asset of the society.
She also stressed collective efforts for promotion of education. She said there was an immediate need to root out illiteracy at a grassroots level to bring about radical changes in every sphere of life. She called for changing the education system and removing disparities to ensure even opportunities to all in the country.
Addressing the participants, Principal Javaid Akhtar Billah said that there could never be an alternative of teachers in the world. He said that the government was striving to curb the the darkness of ignorance through spreading the light of knowledge and education as per the vision of the government.
He also urged the teachers and parents to focus on the character building of the students, and stressed a need for bringing change in the social attitude towards the promotion of quality education. He said that students are the future of the country and the nation should secure the educational future by ensuring their easy access to quality education.
Earlier, the VC distributed medals, awards and prizes to the brilliant students for their outstanding performance in the annual exams.
