Bride burnt in wedding, fighting for life

A bride was burnt with acid allegedly thrown by her father and maternal uncle on her wedding day in Chak 56/KB Luddan here on Wednesday.
Rabia, 18, had first been married to her cousin Nazakat but she took divorce. Later, she eloped with her other cousin namely Jaffar. On assurance of a local Punchayat that they would be married according to the law, Rabia came back.
According to the Punchayat decision, she was to be married with Jaffar but her father and uncle Riaz allegedly threw acid on her. On the other side, they told the Luddan police that Jaffar and his accomplices had thrown acid on her.
The police arrested Jaffar but after investigation, also held Riaz who confessed to his crime. On his statement, the police arrested Shaukat, her father, and sent them behind bars.
It was reported that 80 percent body of the girl had been burnt and she referred to Nishter Hospital Multan in critical condition. The police registered a case and started investigation.
ROOF FALLS: Two persons were injured as the roof of their house collapsed in Peoples Colony Vehari. Both the injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital.
DEATH SENTENCE: Additional District & Sessions Judge Vehari Muhammad Ashraf Bhatti has awarded two times death sentence to accused Mudassar Hussain who had killed his ant and her daughter on a minor dispute in 2011.
Meanwhile, three years old child drowned in a minor canal. Muhammad Syfiyan of 24/WB was playing and suddenly fell in the canal. Rescue 1122 shifted him to DHQ Hospital but he expired.
