LAHORE: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq has said if Pakistan has been made secure for foreign investment as per claim of the Prime Minister in statement at the SAARC Finance Minister’s conference then why his family had made huge investment abroad.
Talking to the media persons after presiding over a programme of the JI youth wing at Mansoora on Saturday, Sirajul Haq said that if the Prime Minister was sincere to the nation and the country, he should bring his wealth lying abroad to the country and invest here.
He said the JI had announced a war against corruption and it would adopt the legal path to bring all those coming in its way including the Prime Minister, to accountability because the country could not progress unless corruption was wiped out. He said the Premier was evading accountability that confirmed the common view that his hands were not clean.
The JI chief said that it was the moral duty of the Prime Minister to offer himself for accountability after the Panama Leaks in order to clear his position. The Prime Minister had addressed the nation thrice on the issue but had failed to satisfy the general public, he added.
Sirajul Haq said that corruption had gone deep into the ruling class which spent millions to win elections and then plundered billions from the public money. Most of the amount allocated for development and welfare projects was misappropriated and there was nothing for public health, education, communication, housing, employment creation, etc.
He said the main objective of the JI drive against corruption was to recover the plundered money and divert it towards repayment of loans, and public good. He also demanded the audit of the loans obtained by the rulers from the IMF and World Bank for development projects.
Referring to the Kashmir situation, the JI chief said that Held Kashmir was under curfew for the last over 50 days making it difficult for the Kashmiris to procure necessities of life including drugs. He said if the world community and the human rights bodies remained indifferent to the situation, a big human tragedy could occur.
He said it was the responsibility of the Pakistan government to step up its diplomatic efforts to draw the world attention to the situation in Kashmir after the martyrdom of Muzaffar Wani, but unfortunately, Islamabad remained indifferent and looked like a graveyard. He said that prolonged curfew had failed to stop the Kashmiris from raising slogans for freedom.
The JI chief counseled Indian Premier Modi to realize that the Kashmiris would not rest unless they got the right to self-determination. Therefore, New Delhi should give up intransigence and come to the negotiation table, he said.
