KARACHI: Rangers arrested 3 terrorists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and two target killers involved in various criminal activities.
Rehan Ali alias Chikna, Zubair alias Achu and Javed were from MQM London secretariat and from whom 4 rilfes, SMG, and many bullets were recovered. All were allegedly involved in target killings.
In Malir, Rangers raided and arrested two MQM members, sector in-charge Hasan Alam and Joint Sector in-charge Talha Warsi, who were involved in the attack on media houses. Two women involved in the attacks were also arrested.
According to reports, the police conducted an operation in Manghupir area of Karachi, briefed by an intelligence report stating that target killers were present in the area. When the police reached the area, the accused opened fire at them after which the police returned fire and arrested two target killers.
The arrested target killers were identified as Asif Ismail and Abid Ustad alias Kaka. Police sources have said that the arrested target killers belong to MQM.
Sources further informed that the arrested target killers confessed to killing people belonging to the Ismaili and Bohri sects. They also confessed to murdering several other people.
Police have also recovered arms and a motorcycle from their possession.
Meanwhile authorities have taken action against illegally constructed offices of MQM, which continued today with 14 offices razed and over 220 sealed in Karachi so far.
MQM offices constructed on lands allotted for parks and similar public areas were demolished.
The party's unit office situated in Karachi University's staff colony was evacuated and MQM posters, party flags and portraits of the party supremo Altaf Hussain have also been removed from the campus.
Seven more party offices in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, New Town, Kharadar, Meetha Dar and Railways Colony were demolished on Friday and earlier today.
Yesterday, seven MQM offices were demolished in Bhains Colony, Sachchal, Airport, Tariq bin Ziad Society and Quaidabad.
So far, 14 party offices have been demolished and 218 sealed in Karachi.
Residents observed as heavy machinery leveled the offices. Some took the opportunity to steal things out of the rubble.
Officials said that 178 of party unit offices and 22 sector offices are situated on encroached lands. They said that a decision has been made to immediately demolish 32 of these offices, while others would be razed gradually.
