KHYBER AGENCY - Six militants were killed when forces shelled their hideouts in Khyber Agency on Sunday.
The operation conducted by forces against the defunct Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) continued on the second day and LI positions were targeted with heavy artillery here in Narai Baba, Tehsil Landikotal sub-division of Khyber on Saturday, official sources said.
“At least six militants were killed and numerous hideouts were destroyed,” said an official from the area. Gunship helicopters were used in the operation and they shelled the suspected hideous, they claimed to have demolished scores of them, sources said.
Sector commander Brig Sadullah Khan visited the front posts in Zakhakhel area and also rushed reinforcements. It is stated here that commandant FC Col Mohammad Fayyaz is supervising the operation.
At the moment Tirah Valley is considered to be the stronghold of LI where ongoing operations are carried out against the banned organisation.­GP26g
