Government commited to reducing Infant Mortality Rate

The National Assembly was informed today that several programs were operational to reduce infant mortality rates in the country.

Federal Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain said primary healthcare vaccination and community midwife worker programs have helped reduce the mortality rate among the infants.

He said that the federal government was committed to achieving the Millennium Development Goals regarding infant mortality rate. Speaking in the House, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that National Tax Numbers had been issued to all the Parliamentarians.

The Finance Minister said the government is working proactively to enhance the tax net. Meanwhile, the House passed the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (Amendment) Bill 2013 to further amend the National Judicial Policy Making Committee Ordinance 2002.
