Unscheduled outages testing public patience

KASUR-Prolonged and unscheduled power outages in the prevailing muggy, have left the public with cursing Lesco authorities and taking to the street to get their voice heard.
According to a survey conducted by this correspondent, people are suffering great ordeal due to unscheduled power outages as the Lesco has increased duration of loadshedding both in urban and rural areas. They said Lesco is conducting 10 hours loadshedding on a daily basis in the urban areas while situation in rural areas is worse than that where loadshedding of 14 hours is being conducted. They pointed out that the traders and workers are the worst hit by the outages whose business depends on the uninterrupted supply of electricity and most of the craftsmen and powerloom workers have been virtually rendered jobless.
The unscheduled outages have also given rise to the bunring incidents of electricity transformers and household electronic appliances, they added.
The members of Kanganpur Anjuman-e-Tajran, lawyers and labour organisations have protested against the Lesco authorities for carrying out unscheduled outages. They said that if Lesco does not supply uninterrupted electricity, they will be forced to launch a massive protest campaign against it. They also demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Minister of Power and Water Kh Asif and State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali to look into the matter and directed the Lesco officials to resolve their problems at the earliest.
