DCO Mehmood Javed Bhatti said that the district administration is responsible for ensuring provision of basic facilities to the people at cheaper rates and saving them from exploitation of the profiteers.
He stated this during a meeting with Price Control Committee members here the other day.
DC Mehar Ameer Bakhsh, AC Vehari Abbas Raza Nassir, Irshad Hussain Bhatti, Mian Sajid Asif, Rao Khalil Ahmad and ice factories owners, Sellers were also present in the meeting. The DCO said that consumers were complaining against the standard of the Ice and its price. He asked the Ice factory owners to provide quality ice on normal rate to the citizens in the sizzling hot weather. In the meeting he also set the ice price as Rs700 per block and Rs8 per kg.
 He ordered the ice factories owners for improving the standard of the ice by testing the water before making ice. He also warned of action against substandard ice producers and those selling it at higher rates.
