CM announces compensation, free education for victims

SHEIKHUPURA - Taking notice of the gang rape of five female workers allegedly by landlords in the limits of Narang Mandi police, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif reached the victims' house on Monday and announced compensation money and free technical education for them, besides ordering a stern action against the perpetrators.
The CM said that such criminals must be punished severely at all costs, and directed the police to arrest the culprits immediately. He assured the victims and their family members of an all-out help regarding the provision of justice. However, the Narang Mandi police have arrested three accused namely Shahzad, Tasaddaq and Zaheer while Aqeel, Nawaz alias and other three are still at large. Mr Shahbaz directed the police to arrest the escaped accused at the earliest.
As per the case details, the victims' family head, Safdar Ali of Village Noon, along with 15 other male and female workers reached village Kirto to harvest rice crop of a landlord. After finishing their work, they stayed at the landlord's outhouse where at night some eight armed men barged into the outhouse and overpowered them. Later, the gunmen took the five women at a separate place and gang raped them and managed to escape in the morning.  Another report adds: Two influential men of Sheikhupura, Mara Jat & Zaheer Jat, with his aids, gang-raped the girls when they completed their job and asked for their wage. In response to their demand, the landlord with the help of his aids tied Boota, father of a victim girl, and his wife with ropes and then gang-raped his daughter Samina, niece Iram, 13, Safia, 14, Farha, 15, and Saima, 18.
60 bikes, two cars impounded : The district police impounded 60 motorcycles and two cars and registered cases against its owner during a crackdown on fake green number plates and without number plates vehicle.  The police during the crackdown launched on the instructions of the DPO, impounded a Honda car of Punjab govt but the owner couldn't present any proof for official number plate.
The police sources informed that the operation would continue to keeping in view the prevailing critical law and order situation in the country.
