SC seeks record on release of PML-N MNA in murder case

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has sought record from subordinate court in connection with release of Abid Raza, PML-N MNA, in connection with the murder of six people’s case.
Raza was convicted in the murder case of six people, during an assassination bid on former Gujrat Tehsil Nazim and ex-MPA Ghulam Sarwar Bhooch back in 1998. A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali took up the suo motu case for hearing on Friday.
Raza appeared before the court and told the court that he has engaged a lawyer a night before and Munir Bhatti will appear in the case as lawyer. As he has filed the papers, therefore, he should be given time to make preparation for the case.
The CJP inquired from him if he had received bailable arrest warrants issued by the court, h replied in affirmation and added that the court order would be fully complied with.
The court gave Raza time till the second week of December and directed the registrar office that all the relevant record of the case should be sought from the respective court to present then before the SC on next hearing. Abid Raza is charged with allegedly murdering 6 persons and subordinate court had ordered for his release on the basis of compromise despite the fact that case under terrorism act was registered against him.
Upon it CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali had taken suo motu notice and issued bailable arrest warrants of Abid Raza and ordered him to appear before the court in person.
