UNITED NATIONS : UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday urged Pakistan and India to resolve the ongoing tensions along the LoC in the disputed Kashmir region through dialogue. "We are obviously aware of these reports (of exchanges of fire along LoC) over the past few days, and obviously not just the past few days. This needs to be dealt with by the two parties in a peaceful manner," the Secretary-General's Spokesman, Martin Nesirky, told the regular noon briefing in response to a question. "The discussions that did take place (between leaders of Pakistan and India) on the margins of the GA meetings last month were important, and it is precisely that kind of a dialogue which the secretary-general would wish to encourage," he said.
, referring to last month's meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New York.
